Last week, little Joe Morris won the U12's in the Welsh National Surf Championships with his mini Quiver under his feet. Joseph started surfing with BC surf and coach Sam Moore, he also has regular training with some of the best junior surfers in Wales from Quiksilver pro surfer Nathan Phillips and this year joined the cadet squad coached by Joel Gray where he travels to cornwall every month for training. These are his 3 coaches that he wouldn't be where he is without their help and coaching.
As he is only 10 its all about the training for him to learn as much as he can. He started surfing at the age of 7 so its been 3 years now and he loves it so much. He loves many surfers but Kelly Slater is his idol and is going with Surf solutions cadet squad to France in september for the pro tour with hope that he can meet his idol and watch him surf. He went to California last year on holiday and entered a fun comp on his first quiver board where he met Tom Curren, Donovan Frankenreiter and lots of other amazing surfers all cheering him during the heats.
He was awarded with a trophy at the end of the comp and interviewed in front of thousands of people there to see Donavan sing after the presentation. It was the best day of his life he said. He also got to surf Trestles and Huntington beach and wants to go back again next year.
We mentioned the 3 coaches because he trains with them all equally. Below are some photos of the California billabong comp at Salt creek just for you to see how he has been doing.
