Gordy Gets to Quarters in ASP Vendee Pro

We were stoked to watch Gordy getting through to the 1/4 finals of the 3 Star ASP Protest Vendee Pro last weekend.

"Hey guys, we're just back from Vendee... It's been a good weekend.
I was pleased to get to the quarter finals in this 3 star QS event... The conditions were tough in my last heat, everyone was battling for the few good waves that were coming through...

I'm super glad about the new boards, they're working sick!!! Thanks Quiver.. And it was awesome to be able to surf in a 3/2 and still feel warm! C-Skins wetsuits are rad...

I'm really stoked, a super great way to start off the surf season...bring it on!!"

Marlon Lipke (DEU) has won the 2012 ASP 3-Star Protest Vendee Pro in a close fought low scoring final in shifting 4-5Ft wind affected peaks progressing through the early rounds of competition to build momentum. Lipke eventually took out the Final heat of the day besting three hungry frenchman including 2011 ASP Europe Champion Romain Cloitre, powerhouse Joan Duru and the event overall standout Vincent Duvignac.

«The left here is so much fun, I remember surfing it like 10 years ago when I was staying at Gregory Pastusiak’s house and this whole event I’ve been surfing it despite everyone sticking to the right», Marlon said. «I guess it was kind of a risk for me but luckily it paid off ! The wind picked up again during the final and destroyed the waves, with very few offering a shoulder to work with, but I felt like when you put a lot of energy in and keep catching waves then eventually it pays off. I just blocked everything out, surfed my heat, tried my best and I’m very very happy to win here. It’s my sponsor’s event (Protest) so it’s even better !».

Marlon Lipke, who qualified and surfed on the World Championship Tour in 2009, rises back and takes an early lead on the ASP European rankings. The 28 year-old German based in Portugal has been remodelling his approach to surfing events and starts 2012 with a strong goal of building up on his result in Vendee.

Ripcurl Pro Bells Day 1 Highlights

Ripcurl Pro Bells Beach 2012 Nic Muscroft Highlights

Here is some action from Nic Muscrofts round 1 heat 5 in the Bells Beach Ripcurl Pro 2012 with his Quiver in tow.

Nic Muscroft on his Quiver Beats Taj and Kolohe @ Bells Beach

Nic Muscroft (AUS), 29, trials' winner and wildcard into the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford Ranger, caused the day's biggest upset in besting current ASP World No. 1 Taj Burrow (AUS), 33, and rookie phenom Kolohe Andino (USA), 18, to advance directly to Round 3 of competition. The local Victorian trailed for the bulk of the heat until the dying moments where he tore apart a set righthander to take out the heat win.  Nic was riding his Quiver model which we had custom made for him at the end of 2011 and we are stoked for him that he's gone through to round 3.  All eyes on him for round 3 and hope he's back on his Quiver if the conditions hold up.

1st Nic Muscroft (AUS) 16.07
2nd Kolohe Andino (USA) 14.06
3rd Taj Burrow (AUS) 11.10
